HOLLY’S NOVEL

An international romantic thriller set in New York, Connecticut, and abroad in 2002, House of Safe tells of a life-altering friendship between a 20-year-old Ukrainian woman on the run from sex traffickers and an American soap-opera actress shattered by loss. HOLLY’S STORY

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Holly wrote her first piece of fiction in elementary school about a man trapped in his car during a blizzard. She started her professional career writing for Connecticut’s StamfordAdvocate newspaper, with an early article describing an office-tower garden located along Interstate 95.

She relocated to New York to work as an editor for Welsh Publishing Group, creating a variety of TV, movie, and character-driven magazines for kids, then moved to The New York Times Women’s Magazine Group to write and edit features for Family Circle special publications including holiday, decorating, and DIY titles. She became a staff writer for Family Circle’s bimonthly gardening magazine and a frequent contributor to AmericanHomestyle & Gardening while freelancing fashion and beauty pieces for magazines such as McCall’s, Mademoiselle, Woman’s World, Rebecca’s Garden, More, American Health, and New Beauty: Articles and Essays. She also co-founded Pop Writers with author and editor Sheryl Berk, reporting on Hollywood celebrities for fan magazines worldwide.

Holly is currently earning a Master of Social Work degree in New York City, volunteers at a health clinic, and teaches English Language and Learning for Building One Community, an immigrant opportunity center in Stamford, Connecticut. Her first novel, set in outback Australia, led her to write House of Safe, which happens to feature - though no blizzards - an historic urban garden and a chase scene on Interstate 95.
